Hi there this is another Miniwargaming fan here. I'm Kevin and in this tutorial I will show you how to paint oh so awesome Warrior of Minas Tirith. Just follow along these instructions and you will hope fully get it. These are the paints you will need to paint the Warrior of Minas Tirith including the base and sand. 1. Tin Bitz (for the armor and weapon.) 2. Chaos Black (For the whole entire figure except the base (which is optional.) 3. Boltgun metal (For the armor and weapon.) 4. Chainmail (For the armor and weapon, you can also use Mithril Silver.) 5. Shining Gold (For the handle of the sword and straps for the sword case and arrow quiver.) 6. Codex gray (For the skirt, sash, and DryBrush for the hand and arms.) 7. Scorched Brown (For the base you can also you Beastial Brown.) 8. Beastial Brown (For the flesh and optional for the base.) 9. Tanned Flesh (For the flesh.) 10. Dwarf Flesh (For the flesh.) 11. Bleached Bone (For DryBrush on the sand for the base) 12. Brown Ink (To give the sand color and bond for the DryBrush) EQUIPMENT 1. Fine Detail Brush (For painting the details remember it does not have to be a GW brush, just go to michaels or Aaron Brothers and buy a cheap fine detail) 2. Medium sized dry brush (Again same thing goes for the Fine Detail Brush) 3. Modeling Sand (I recommend going to your local beach or park and jack some sand its that easy.) 4. Static Grass (You can use any color grass to make your soldiers in like a different terrain or scheme such as using snow and fall colored static grass.) 5. 1 pack of Warriors of Minas Tirith contains x24 units (Obviously you will need this that is the main star of the show.) 6. Any type of hobby knife (This ones an essential.) 7. PVA glue or Cement glue or Super glue or green stuff(which you can buy a lot of green stuff for a cheaper price at the MiniWargaming online store) (Used for the base and the cement and super glue is used to glue the pieces together) INSTRUCTIONS: Start by cutting out all of your pieces. Then cut out any mold lines by getting your hobby knife and shaving the lines off slightly but not too hard or else you will carve deep into the soldier and it will make it look crappy. No body wants a crappy soldier. Then once all your men are cut out you should srub them with hot soap water so the paint will stick unless you want to paint your figures 2-3 times because the paint didn't stick onto your figures and created open spots. Once done this should give you a better chance of your paint sticking. Once done do the same for your bases then glue your figures onto the base with either cement glue or super glue (I preferably use Tamiya Cement glue because surprisingly I am also an armour modeler and ship modeler also it drys and gives you really good stick or you can use green stuff if you want it super reinforced). Now you get to paint the fun part and long part. So first start by painting all your figures with chaos black and this is a must. Once dried get your drybrush out and get a little of the tin bitz and drybrush the whole entire figure. Now if you do not know what drybrushing is I will give you a brief explanation on what it is. Drybrushing is simply getting your brush and getting a dab of paint and whiping most of the paint off with a naphkin and then you brush which is dry brushing, which in most LOTR figures you will see some almost have little black spot areas that are kind of painted and it adds almost a shadowy effect to your figures. Okay so once your dry brushed with the tin bitz which should dry extremely fast (This is why painting the Warriors of Minas Tirith can be easy and quick) Then start dry brushing it with boltgun metal. After that give it a final dry brush of chainmail (Or Mithril Silver). Now the reason I dry brush so many metal like colors is that it gives the figure detail and makes the metal realistic like you will see certain tiny parts like its made of bronze which that is what the tin bitz does and the boltgun metal just makes the armor look like a shadowy dark metal then the chain mail covers some of the shadowy part but it still shows which makes it look like it is metal. Now once you dry brushed everyone messes up and this is part of the step so repaint your shield with chaos black. Once done drybrush with a fine detail brush with the three metal colors on the tree part in order (tin bitz-boltgun metal-chainmail) If you mess up like get the metal paints cover the whole entire tree then repaint it with chaos black and start over. You want to slightly drybrush not to hard and I recommend turning your brush sideways when doing this (covering the black areas of the shield does not matter because you can simply repaint it with chaos black. Or when you finished drybrushing your soldier you can get some black ink which is hard to find nowadays and water it down 3 parts water 1 part black ink and paint over the shield and dab off the excess. Okay for the skirt repaint it chaos black because it should have the metal paitns over it since you drybrushed the figure. Then slightly drybrush your skirt with Codex Gray and try not to cover the whole thing I recomend using the fine detail. Then you will see his sash/belt around where his cuirass and skirt meets paint the sash/belt Codex Gray or Chaos Black or SnakeBite Leather. For the hairs I painted some with beastial brown and some with chaos black The choice is up to you. Now to paint the face. First use a fine detail brush and paint the face with beastial brown. Once done paint it over with tanned flesh which painting it over is also known as highlight. Then highlight the face with dwarf flesh. For the eyes I do not paint because the helmet covers most of his eye areas so you cannot really see his eyes but it is up to you. You can use a fine detail brush and paint the eye skull white then a dot of chaos black or any other color eye paint you prefer. For the archers there bow should be painted with Scorched Brown and the tips of the bows the top and bottom give that the three metal drybrush (Tin Bitz-Boltgun metal-Chainmail) And then dry brush the arrows codex gray and their quiver/arrow case should be paint with chaos black and their straps should either be shining gold or snakebite leather or burnished gold. Then the archers will have a sword also so start by paint their sword case chaos black and strap shining gold or snakebite leather or burnished gold and for the sword handle paint it with shining gold or burnished gold Then paint the handle chaos black but DO NOT paint the circular end part of the sword must be in the gold color and the top handle thingy must be gold to just paint the middle handle chaos black. For the swordsmen type the sword handle should be paint with shining gold or burnished gold (shining gold is perferable since it has a deeper bold gold color.) And for the sword case paint it chaos black and paint the straps shining gold Fine detail brush is preferably the choice for this job. For the spearmen paint the speartip with the three metal color (Tin Bitz-Boltgun Metal-Chainmail) Which the drybrushing should have done that for you. Then he will also have a sword and again do the same thing you did with the archer here I will repeat the same thing again paint their sword case chaos black and strap shining gold or snakebite leather or burnished gold and for the sword handle paint it with shining gold or burnished gold Then paint the handle chaos black but DO NOT paint the circular end part of the sword must be in the gold color and the top handle thingy must be gold to just paint the middle handle chaos black. Now for the small details paint the hands chaos black and give it a drybrush of codex gray. Then you should see the armpit area of your soldiers under the shoulder pad. There should be a cloth like area paint that chaos black but try not to paint over the armor and chainmail area. Then givet he cloth a light dry brush of codex gray. Use a fine detail brush for this. NOW FOR THE FINAL STEP HURRAY!!!! The basing use either PVA Glue or Cement glue or Super glue. First dont paint the bases because the pva glue if you mess up and get it all over the sides of the base the paint will come out and it will be very frustrating. So just start by making your base. Evenly spread some glue of your choice and then start by sprinkling your sand. Let it dry. Once dryed give it a wash of Brown ink (most stores do not have Brown ink but you do not have to use the brown ink it is optional) Once your Brown ink has dryed, lightly drybrush the sand with bleached bone. Then put some spots of glue and add some grass where ever you'd like of your choice. Now finally paint your base with either Scorched Brown or Beastial Brown. NOW you are done. NOW SEND THESE FOUL BEASTS INTO THE ABYSS!!!!!! Enjoy
